Welcome to my official re-election website.
It has been an honor to serve as your Representative during these last two terms. I have worked hard to bring everyone to the table and develop solutions that we can all agree on. Since taking office in 2005, I have been instrumental in bringing several improvements to the Northland. When Kansas City ran out of money for the widening of N. Oak between 96th and 108th St., I worked with Senator Kit Bond to get $2 million in Federal Transportation money to get that project finished. While the City continues to drag its feet, I will continue to be on them to make N. Oak a priority!
When we rewrote the School Funding Formula for public schools, I worked closely with the North Kansas City School District to ensure that our children and teachers got what they deserved. The result is a formula that increased funding for the NKCSD for the first time since 1992. When the new formula is fully phased in, it will mean an additional $17 million a year in funding, and in the last 4 years, the district has seen a 50% increase in state funds.
When NKC Hospital and Liberty Hospital sought state approval for a new Long Term Acute Care Hospital to be built at 68th St. and 169 Hwy., I worked across party lines to build consensus for this important project and ultimately won its approval. This facility is the first of its kind North of the river and will bring over 200 new jobs to our district.
I will continue to represent our district with energy and vigor in the next term, fighting tirelessly to make the Northland a better place to live, work and play. After all, I live here to.
Thanks again for the opportunity to serve. I would appreciate your support once again on November, 4th.
